Experience the cool vibe of downtown State College during our monthly First Friday events. A casual atmosphere features art, people-watching, mingling with friends, shopping, and dining at the diverse and delectable State College restaurants. First Friday goers will experience after-hours access to galleries and shops, free bites and beverages, live music, retail and restaurant specials, and more. And there’s free parking in the Pugh, Fraser and Beaver garages with validations from participating merchants.

Drop by and be ready to get creative, connect with others, move your hands and learn about self-care art techniques! Hosted by Erin E. Carter and Erin Bolger Welsh, this drop in session will focus on therapeutic art practices for self-care as well as provide a make and take for you to do on your own time!
Erin Bolger Welsh is an artist working abstractly in drawing, painting, collage, mosaic and textile design. She is an art teacher at Bellefonte Area High School and has been teaching art for 25 years. Erin E. Carter is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Creative Arts Therapies in the Integrative Arts Program. She has authored and teaches several classes around arts and wellness & supervises internships. She is a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) who holds her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership and a Master of Science in Art Therapy Counseling. She has experience facilitating art therapy with people of all ages and abilities. Erin loves to read, create art, and spend time in nature with her children.
